Service phase 0

Service phase 0
Our aim in service phase 0 is to develop a spatial and utilization concept that serves as the basis for the subsequent architectural services. At the heart of this phase is the user-oriented participation process, in which we actively involve the future users. Together with architects, specialist planners, educators and decision-makers, we work out the requirements for the use and space of the future building.
An essential part of this process is to create a common language and a common understanding between all those involved. On this basis, we develop a shared vision that shapes the new design or redesign of the space.
The better our team understands the needs and perspectives of the users, the more realistically we can implement the vision. At the same time, this process gives the users an insight into the architects' scope for action.
This participatory approach promotes mutual understanding and forms the basis for successful collaboration in the planning and implementation of the project
Many years of experience
Once completed, a school building is usually used for 30 to 50 years or even longer. Even the planning of a new building often takes place five years in advance, which further complicates the challenges in the later construction phase. Given the rapid pace of social and technological change, it is difficult to estimate what impact Industry 4.0 will have on a vocational school in 15 years' time, for example - or how digitalization could affect a city's administration in 20 years' time. In addition, shortages of building materials and unpredictable price trends make construction planning more difficult.
It is precisely because of these uncertainties that a service phase 0 is essential in order to minimize the risk of planning errors and to be able to carry out the later service phases (LP 1-9) without delays.

Description of the target
Target identification and target description in phase 0
.
Inventory analysis
Inventory analysis and basics (consisting of: architectural, pedagogical, operational and organizational and structural perspective) .
Needs analysis
Needs analysis (consisting of architectural, pedagogical, operational, organizational and structural perspectives).
Functional concept and feasibility analysis
Based on an analysis of the current situation and requirements, we work with users to develop a needs-based infrastructure in existing properties or as a completely new development. Scenarios Formation for the spatial, functional and usage description of the spatial structure.
Overall concept
Study/overall concept (summary and evaluation of all previous modules, plus a cost framework calculation and implementation planning)
.
Support during implementation
Project management from the user's perspective. With our pedagogical expertise, we secure the qualities from the previous processes in project management.
Expertise in school planning
The following expertise and experience are therefore important for successful planning of service phase 0.
- Pedagogical architecture (for school and training projects)
- Knowledge of sustainable and resource-conserving construction
- Metatrends in society and the economy (e.g. demographic developments, Industry 4.0, climate neutrality)
- „Work 4.0 - New Work - New Learning” (for administration and vocational training projects)
- Metatrends and challenges in education (e.g. all-day schooling, educational equity, inclusion, integration, hybrid teaching, interdisciplinary and phenomenon-based learning)
- Design thinking and moderation of vision and prototyping workshops
- Smart building (integration of smart digital IT solutions in space and usage planning)
